Good Morning, Falconridge families!

As we turn the calendar to June, it’s hard to believe the final month of school is already upon us! With just a few short weeks remaining, our school continues to buzz with energy, learning, and celebration. This past week was a perfect example of that spirit—our halls and fields were alive with activity and excitement.

From the Grade 6 Music Producing Club exploring their creativity, to the heartwarming Kindergarten Assembly, students have been busy showcasing their talents and enjoying new experiences. Our Boy’s Soccer Club and Grade 5 & 6 Girl’s Soccer Club hit the fields with great enthusiasm, while the Grade 4 Basketball team kept the gym lively. The Grade 5/6 Dance Club added rhythm to the week, and two of our Grade 2 classes had a blast exploring nature on their field trip to Bow Habitat. We were also fortunate to welcome Community Police Officers, who gave engaging and important presentations to our students. And of course, a big thank-you to everyone who came out for our Spring Family Dance—it was a wonderful evening of fun, music, and connection!

As the weather continues to be fantastic (with a few rainy surprises here and there), please remember to dress your children appropriately—whether that means sunhats and sunscreen or raincoats and boots.

Let’s make the most of these final weeks together—there’s still so much more to come!

Please read on for important updates.

Parent Council AGM – June 4, 2025

Please accept this as your invitation to join us for the Falconridge School Council Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for 6:30pm on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 being held at Falconridge School in the Learning Commons.

Did you know that as a Parent, Guardian or Custodian of a student of Falconridge School you are automatically a member of our School Council?

Did you know that the objective of our School Council is committed to supporting opportunities for each student to maximize their intellectual, physical, social, emotional and creative growth and encouragement in a safe and caring environment?

Did you know that the fundraising we normally do throughout the year pays and supports initiatives such as computers in classrooms, sports and school programs that could not be funded by the school budget itself?

Did you know that our Council needs your HELP!  We will have opportunities to take on mandatory positions for Council vacant and will need those positions filled in order to continue with our Fundraising Society!  The work of many helps lighten the load.  The Council commitment is only about 2 hours per month.  Please consider holding a position on our School Council and/or our fundraising society.  If you are unable to hold a position, please still consider attending our meetings.  The perspective that we can bring as individuals is valuable and allows us the opportunity to support the needs of all Falconridge students.

Kindergarten Open House

We are excited to welcome the newest Kindergarten students into our community for the 2025-2026 school year. As we prepare for the coming school year, we wanted to invite 2025-2026 Kindergarten students and families into the school for our Kindergarten Open House.

Please RSVP to https://forms.office.com/r/NJQhQbGpy4 with your availability for the event.

Last Day for Library Book Exchange

As the end of the year approaches, we are set to take inventory and organize our Learning Commons for the 2025-2026 school year. As we look to do this, we will have our final day for book exchange on June 13 with all books being returned between June 16-20. Thank you for your support of our Learning Commons.

EverActive Schools – Family Travel Survey

This survey helps us understand any changes in travel behavior and measure the impact of the project that our grade 6 classes have undertaken this year. Please see the survey link below.

Nations Vision

Nation’s Vision is a portable multidisciplinary eyecare clinic which provides services to priority populations throughout the Calgary region. During the 2023/2024 school year they provided free portable eye exams to over 5,000 students across 48 schools in the CSSD and CBE.

Nations Vision will be at Falconridge School at the start of June 2025.

Nations Vision will have a 3-phased process:

  • Phase 1- Ophthalmic testing; identifies students most in need of further assessment by an optometrist or ophthalmologist.
  • Phase 2- Optometric/Ophthalmic Assessment; children undergo comprehensive exams and those who require glasses are provided a prescription and opportunity to select frames.
  • Phase 3- Portable optician dispenses glasses directly to children, in the school.

More information will be sent to families in the coming month.
