Good Afternoon, Falconridge families!
As we move into the heart of spring, there is a wonderful buzz of learning and activity throughout our school. This month brings several exciting opportunities for students, including swimming lessons for Kindergarten to Grade 2, skating for Grades 3–6, and a soccer residency that is already generating lots of enthusiasm. With the return of warmer weather, classes are also spending more time learning and playing outdoors—whether it’s outdoor PE, nature walks, or enjoying fresh air during recess and lunch. Spring weather can change quickly, so we ask families to ensure students come to school prepared for rain, wind, sun, and cooler mornings with appropriate clothing and footwear. As always, thank you for your continued support as we work together to make this a fun, active, and engaging season of learning for all students.
Please read on for important updates.
Community Night – May 14
Every year, Falconridge School hosts a Community Night to celebrate an evening of performances, booths, games, food, prizes, and more. This year we are hosting the event on the evening of May 14, 2026.
As we look to celebrate with all of those that help make Falconridge a vibrant learning community, we wanted to remind families to keep an eye out for information from your child’s homeroom teacher. Information has been sent home as we work towards accounting for our numbers at the two different times. We hope to see you on May 14.
Parent Accounts – Stay Connected and Informed
Having an active Parent Account (MyCBE / PowerSchool Parent Portal) is an important way to stay connected to your child’s education. Through your parent account, families can view attendance, report cards, school fees, important forms, and school communications all in one secure place. It also helps ensure you receive timely updates and reminders from the school and the Calgary Board of Education.
If you have not yet signed up, visit www.cbe.ab.ca and select “MyCBE / PowerSchool Parent Portal” to create your account. If you already have an account, we encourage you to check it regularly to stay up to date. If you need assistance with access, login details, or linking your child(ren), please contact the school office—we are happy to help support you.
Speed Cushions and Humps
To improve traffic and pedestrian safety near schools, The City of Calgary is introducing a pilot project to install speed cushions and humps to slow traffic at multiple locations. Falconridge School has been selected as one of the locations for the pilot. The City plans to begin work on installation in the next few weeks at the locations indicated in the image on the right side of the page.
Video Camera Installation
CBE may install and use video surveillance technology where it enhances safety of students, staff, or others, or deters damage to CBE property or assets; where circumstances have shown that it is necessary for these purposes, and its benefits outweigh the impact on the privacy of those affected. Privacy law, specifically, Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) and the Access to Information Act (ATIA), requires that CBE demonstrate that the proposed installation and use of Video Surveillance Technology (VST) is necessary to resolve pressing and substantial business interests (based on evidence of verifiable and identifiable issues). VST is considered a complement to, and not a replacement for, CBE's strategies in supporting a welcoming, caring, safe, and respectful learning and work environment for students and staff.
Falconridge school has been selected for the installation of a video surveillance technology system and the conduit installation has begun with the final installation concluding in the fall of 2026. Once completed, the use of the system will follow strict guidelines only accessible by school administration. As installation and utilization proceed, we will ensure to communicate with families.
Lost and Found
Have you misplaced something? Be sure to check the Lost & Found before it's too late! Any unclaimed items will be donated after our Community Night. Visit the Lost & Found today to reclaim your belongings—your lost item might be waiting for you!
Healthy Hunger
Throughout the year, School Council has arranged for our Fun Lunch program through Healthy Hunger. This month, we have the following date:
- May 28 – Kentucky Fried Chicken (Orders due May 23)
To place an order, please log into your Healthy Hunger account and add your children’s names for Falconridge School. You will need to do this again every year even if you ordered food last year. Please ensure you choose the correct grade and teacher when registering your child, and then order lunches.
School Fee Reminder
This is a friendly reminder to families to please ensure that your school fees are paid. Fees support valuable learning experiences and activities for students throughout the year. Payments can be made through MyCBE / PowerSchool Parent Portal. If you have already submitted payment, thank you for your support. If you have any questions or are experiencing difficulty, please contact the school office—we are happy to help.
