Hello Falconridge Families,
As the colder months approach, we want to remind everyone about the importance of dressing appropriately for winter weather. Proper clothing helps ensure comfort and safety, whether you're walking to school or enjoying outdoor activities during the school day.
Here are a few tips to stay warm and safe:
1. Layer Up – Wear multiple layers to help trap warmth. Start with a moisture-wicking base layer, followed by insulating layers, and top it off with a waterproof, windproof outer layer like a winter coat.
2. Warm Accessories – Don’t forget your hat, gloves, scarf, and warm socks. These accessories are key to keeping extremities warm and protected from the cold.
3. Footwear – Make sure to wear sturdy, waterproof boots with good traction to prevent slipping on icy sidewalks.
4. Stay Dry – Wet clothing can quickly lead to discomfort and even hypothermia in extreme cold. Be sure to wear waterproof outerwear, especially on rainy or snowy days.
5. Pack Extra – Pack extra socks and pants in case these get wet, if appropriate.
By dressing appropriately for the winter weather, we can help ensure that everyone stays healthy, safe, and ready to learn. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and we look forward to a safe and enjoyable winter season.
Please read on for important information and upcoming dates.
School Patrollers Starting on Monday, November 18
As we look at coming to and from school in a safe manner, Falconridge School will be starting our Patrollers program. On Monday after school, our grade 6 students will begin monitoring the crosswalk on our East side. We ask that Falconridge families ensure they are following the directions of our patrollers and help to keep our community and students safe. As we aim to alleviate traffic in the area, we would encourage families to walk their children to and from school, if possible.
School Conferences
Our first parent-teacher conferences will take place on November 28 and 29, at the following times:
Thursday, November 28 (4:30pm – 7:30pm)
Friday, November 24 (8:00am – 1:00pm) –
You will be able to book a 15-minute time slot with each teacher you wish to meet. The booking system will be available through the MyCBE Portal on Wednesday, November 20 and more information will be sent early next week.
Healthy Hunger Fun Lunch – Subway November 27/28
Each month our Parent Council is aiming to bring fun lunches to Falconridge School through the Healthy Hunger Website:
https://healthyhunger.ca/index.php
This month, students will be able to order Subway for their students with EES and K-2 classes having fun lunch on November 27 and grades 3-6 having fun lunch on November 28.
Please note that, if you have not registered for Healthy Hunger this school year, you must register your child on the website (ensure you know your child’s homeroom and teacher), and then you can place orders. The ordering deadline is always 5 days before the fun lunch date, so order early and don’t miss out!
Staffing Updates
At Falconridge School we are excited to have welcomed Robert Markeli to our EES program. Mr. Markeli brings a wealth of experience to the Falconridge community and will be with us into January while Ms. Rauser is away. We would also like to congratulate Arpine Mlayan, a stalwart in our EES program, as she has accepted a position in the EES program at Ethel M Johnson. We are excited for Ms. Mlayan as she takes her next career steps.
