September is off to a strong start at Falconridge School!

Our students have been busy settling into routines, reconnecting with friends, meeting new classmates, and diving into learning after the summer break.

Next week, we’ll be holding our first fire drill of the year. As always, our focus is on ensuring students feel safe and supported as we practice important safety procedures.

Our teachers have been working incredibly hard to create welcoming, inclusive classrooms where students feel a strong sense of belonging. Across the school, you’ll see rich learning tasks that spark curiosity, build foundational skills, and encourage collaboration. From literacy centers to math investigations, science explorations to creative writing, our staff is committed to making learning meaningful and engaging for every student. Parents will be able to catch a glimpse of this incredible work during our Meet the Teacher Night on Thursday, September 11.

Picture Day is Coming September 10, 2025

Lifetouch will be coming to Falconridge School to take photos of all students on September 10, 2025. Information on ordering school pictures will be sent to families in the weeks after photos and will include an online platform for ease of ordering.

Meet the Teacher Evening and Community Connection with Food Trucks | September 11, 2025

September 11, 2025 is Meet the Teacher Night for current Falconridge Families (6:00-7:30pm). This evening is an opportunity to visit the school, meet the teachers, and hear about the year plans for each grade and subject area at Falconridge School. Individual conferences to discuss student progress will occur in November while this evening aims to inform parents about the year as we look to build community.

Each grade team will host 3 identical sessions.  Families will be able to choose when they visit their children’s classes in order to visit multiple grades if needed.

Families have three session times to choose from:

  • 6:00pm-6:25pm
  • 6:30pm-6:55pm
  • 7:00pm-7:25pm

During our meet the teacher evening, our parent council has arranged to have food trucks, cotton candy, and community building outside from 6 pm – 8 pm. Please see the poster below for details.

Breakfast Program

Falconridge School is pleased to offer a breakfast program for students who do not have access to breakfast at home. This program is generously funded by donations and non-government organizations. Our goal is to ensure that every child starts their day with a healthy breakfast, setting them up for success throughout the day.

Students are invited to join us for breakfast between 8:00AM to 8:15AM, before school begins. Please enter through the front entrance door.

Healthy Hunger Fun Lunches are back!

Thank you to our School Council for organizing these great lunches for our students and raising some funds for our school! Our first fun lunch is from Subway on September 23.

Please log into your Healthy Hunger account and add your children’s names for Falconridge School. You will need to do this again every year even if you ordered food last year. Please ensure you choose the correct grade and teacher when registering your child, and then order lunches. The cutoff date for our first fun lunch is September 18 and lunch dates have been entered up until April 2026 so make sure to login as soon as possible!

School Council Meeting – September 15, 2025 at 6:00pm

Our next school council and parent society meeting will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025 at 6:00pm. This meeting will be held IN PERSON at Falconridge School. We encourage all parents to attend and be part of important decision making that impacts all students. Please see theParent Council Newsletter.pdf  for a welcome message from our School Council Chair, Melissa Stagg.

Student Attendance

Regular attendance in an important factor in success in school. Frequent lateness and absence results in missed learning opportunities and disrupts the rhythms of the classroom. If your child will be late or absent, please call the school attendance line. Late students come to the office to check in, so we can keep accurate attendance. We know that a number of barriers can result in lateness and absence. If your child misses school often, we will reach out to see how we can support you and child to help them attend school more regularly.

Please note that our start time is at 8:30 AM and attendance will be taken as we aim to begin lessons and instruction at that time.

Updated Doors

As we look to streamline our procedures, we will be changing the doors that we enter the building through. Beginning next week, students will be welcomed into the building through the Front Door, Compound Door (by the basketball courts), and through the middle door on the playground side of the building. Our staff will be stationed at these doors to welcome students into the building and teachers will be in classrooms at 8:15 AM. We ask that parents drop their child at the doors as we aim to create a secure environment for our students.

NEW | Passenger Zone

This year, as we expand EES bussing and prepare for the potential of school busses, the signs have changed surrounding the school, particularly on Falconridge Drive NE. Directly in Front of the School is a No Parking Zone and just before that the zone is now a no parking zone/ Loading Zone.  Please observe the signs and remain with your vehicle. Please also stay clear of the zone marked as an accessible parking zone (blue signs). We would also like to encourage families to use the crosswalks in the area as morning and afternoon congestion creates several blind spots for motorists.

Updated Hours

Please remember that our lunch hours have changed slightly with us still having two lunch times:

  • Students in Kindergarten to Grade 2 have lunch from 11:30AM to 12:05PM
  • Students in Grade 3 to Grade 6 have lunch from 12:10PM to 12:45PM

For students that go home for lunch, they are to remain off campus and return within 5 minutes of the end of their lunchtime. For Kindergarten- Grade 2, they are to return at 12:00 PM while our grade 3-6 classes are to return no earlier than 12:40PM.

In Addition, from Monday – Thursday, our school hours are from 8:15 AM – 3:00 PM and on Friday we operate from 8:30 AM – 12:25 PM. On all days, our doors open at 8:15 for soft entry.
