What a wonderful start to the school year! 

Our Meet the Teacher Night this week was a tremendous success, and we want to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who helped make the evening so memorable. It was incredible to see so many Falconridge families filling our hallways, visiting classrooms, and connecting with staff. The excitement and optimism for the year ahead were evident throughout the building. 

A special thank you also goes to our Parent Council, who helped turn the evening into a true community event. The activities set up in the gym provided opportunities for families to meet, mingle, and have fun together, while the food trucks added another welcoming touch that encouraged families to stay, connect, and celebrate the beginning of a new school year. 

Events like Meet the Teacher Night remind us that student success is built on strong partnerships between home and school. We are grateful to our families, staff, and Parent Council members for helping create such a positive start to the year. Together, we are building a school community where every student feels welcomed, valued, and supported.

Ward 5 Pathway and Bikeway Connections 

Families may have noticed construction of a pathway between our playground and the backlane across from it. This is a portion of a new 770 metre multi-use pathway will replace segments of the informal trail between McKnight Boulevard N.E. and Falchurch Road N.E. The pathway will also include curb extensions where it crosses Falconridge Drive N.E. to help slow traffic and improve safety for people crossing.  

This pathway is one of six being constructed in 2026 as part of the Ward 5 Pathway and Bikeway Connections project, which aims to improve connections and accessibility across the community. More information can be found at calgary.ca/Ward5Connections.  

Breakfast Program – Beginning Monday, September 14, 2026 

Falconridge School is pleased to offer a breakfast program for students who do not have access to breakfast at home. This program is generously funded by donations and non-government organizations. Our goal is to ensure that every child starts their day with a healthy breakfast, setting them up for success throughout the day. 
 
Students are invited to join us for breakfast between 8:00AM to 8:15AM, before school begins. Please enter through the front entrance door. 

Terry Fox Run | September 24, 2026 

This year's Terry Fox Run will be on September 24. As a school, we are supporting Cancer Research through the "Toonie for Terry" program. We are aiming to have each student raise $2 for the run. While we will accept cash donations, it is preferred to use our school's donation page:

Parent Council Meeting | September 16 in our Learning Commons 

Our First School Council and Parent Society meeting will be held in person at Falconridge School on Wednesday, September 16 at 6:00PM. We encourage all parents to attend and be part of important decision-making that impacts all students. 

IMPORTANT | Complete online forms by September 14 

Each year, schools have a variety of forms that parents / legal guardians / independent students are required to complete or review and update, some of which are paper and others online. 

If you have already completed your annual forms, you can disregard this email. 

In CBE, the forms in an online format (SchoolEngage) are: 

  • Demographic Verification - 2026-27 – This required form is an Alberta Education and Childcare requirement as proof of Registration for funding purposes and includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information.  
  • Citizenship Information Update - 2026-27 – This form becomes available and is required to complete if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form. 
  • Annual Authorization - 2026-27 – Combines the following forms: 
    o School District Use of Personal Information - explains how CBE uses personal information in providing education services. 
    o Consent for CBE Use of Student Information – provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by school/district and third parties. 
    o Consent for Use of Student Information by News Media and Outside Groups (Third Party) - provides an option to grant / not grant consent for additional use of student information by outside groups and third parties 
    o Consent for Student Participation in Annual CBE Surveys – these surveys support school and system planning and help improve programs and supports offered to students 
    o Parental Opt-In for Notifiable curriculum for students in grades 3 to 9 – written consent of parents prior to providing instructions or materials that deal primarily and explicitly with human sexuality, gender identity or sexual orientation. Students are unable to participate in this portion of the curriculum unless consent is granted. 

SchoolEngage is one of the applications found in your MyCBE account. This is the same account used to pay fees, view academic information, book school conferences, register to volunteer etc. 

If you do not have a MyCBE account, click Create a MyCBE Account on the MyCBE page. For online help, refer to MyCBE - Creating an Account (includes instructions and a video). 

To complete these forms: 

1. sign in to your MyCBE account 

2. click on the SchoolEngage icon 

3. select the form 

4. complete or review and update the form 

5. click on Submit to send the form electronically to the school 

6. repeat steps 3-5 for each form 

Please submit the Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms in SchoolEngage for your child by Monday, Sep. 14.  These forms are mandatory every year for Alberta Education and Childcare to confirm student funding.

Annual Volunteer Registration Required for All School Volunteers 

To ensure the safety and security of CBE students and staff, all volunteers must be registered with the school each school year before participating in volunteer activities. 

The Annual Volunteer Registration Form is valid for the current school year only. All volunteers, including returning volunteers, must complete a new registration form each school year before participating in volunteer activities. 

Parents and guardians can register as volunteers through the SchoolEngage tab in their MyCBE account. As part of the registration process, all volunteers must review the POPA requirements and sign to indicate their agreement with the conditions outlined in the form. 

New This Year: Community members who do not have a child registered with CBE must complete their volunteer registration in person at the school where they wish to volunteer. This change allows school staff to verify that volunteers have reviewed and acknowledged their privacy obligations under Alberta's Protection of Privacy Act (POPA).
